Speaking to media yesterday, All Island Container Transport Owners’ Federation Chairman Sanath Manjula said the charges will increase from 1 September.
“Our industry was seriously hit as a result of the rise in the price of auto diesel and other fuel numerous times in recent months,” he claimed.
In light of this, Manjula stated that they were compelled to raise container transportation costs by 5%.He claimed that they could not keep running if the money used for diesel was not recovered.
“The costs of all import and export items will rise as a result of the rate modification,” he added.
