Secretary K.D.S. Ruwanchandra said that Rs. 7.5 billion will be allocated for the first phase of construction. A cabinet paper has already been submitted for this purpose.
The project will be undertaken by the companies currently selected for the construction.This section spans 37 kilometers and includes three inter-changes.
Work initially began in 2020 but was halted midway due to the economic crisis. The previous government has planed to complete the construction of the third phase of the Central Expressway from Pothuhera to Galagedara by 2025 and to complete the project by July 2026.
