The Government enunciated by the Gazette Notification No. 1681/3 on 22nd November 2010 the establishment of Ministry of State Resources and Enterprise Development. Further as per the Gazette Extrordinary No. 1747/10 of February 29, 2012 State Resources Management Corporation Limited was added under perview of the Ministry. According the supervision of 24 institutions along with their related functions, that were under the purview of earlier Ministries of Public Estate Management and Development, Supplementary Plantation Crops Development, Industrial Development were merged to form this new Ministry. The main objective of this Ministry is to strengthen the Sri Lankan Economy by directing and advising Government owned Public Enterprises including the 24 institutions, to invest Sate Resources efficiently and effectively. In this mission and task, the profitability of the State Institutions are targeted to be improved and new business ventures to be established to contribute forwards the development and the sustainability of the Country's economy. The local and especially the foreign investors are encouraged to join in hands by optimum utilization of rich and diverse resource endowments.
