Wimal Jayawardana of Kiribathgoda the great artisan started his career in 1950 at Aesthetic University. He designed his first wedding poruwa for his elder brother wedding ceremony. From that auspicious beginning he has designed more than 1000 wedding poruwa to date. He designs not only poruwa but pirith mandapa, traditional murthi, teledramas, films and stage plays. He also designed stage decorations and back drops of elegance and creativity. For the last 10 years he was the creator behind the stage provided for Sumathi Tele Awards.
