Current Secretary-General of Parliament Reaching the high office of Secretary-General of Parliament in 2023, Mrs. Kushani Anusha Rohanadeera began her Parliamentary career by joining the Parliament of Sri Lanka on 02.03.1999 as a Parliamentary Officer. She has served in various offices in the Parliament as an Assistant Principal Officer and a Deputy Principal Officer prior to her appointment to the post of the Assistant Secretary General of Parliament in 2012. She was appointed as the Chief of Staff & the Deputy Secretary – General of Parliament in 2020. She earned a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Biological Science from the University of Colombo and an LL.B from the Open University of Sri Lanka. She is also an Attorney -at-Law. Mrs. Rohanadeera completed her primary and secondary education from Dharmasoka College, Ambalangoda, Prior to joining the Parliamentary Service, she has worked in the private sector as a Junior Executive at the Sampath Bank, Junior Scientist at the Environmental Foundation Ltd., Secretary to the Director (Distance Education), National Institute of Education of Sri Lanka, and Centre Co-ordinator at Informatics (Pvt) Ltd. She has undergone extensive training on Parliamentary Procedures and Practices and Legislative Drafting at BPST, Lok Sabha, India, McGill University, Montreal, Canada, and institutions in many other countries. She is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Professional Managers, and a member of the Bar Association of Sri Lanka. She has published articles in the journals of the Institute of Certified Professional Managers, Bank of Ceylon, “Neethiya” journal, parliamentary journals and newspapers on parliamentary procedures and practices. She is married to Harigupta Rohanadeera and a mother of three children and enjoys cooking and singing
