VAVUNIYA DISTRICT – NORTH PROVINCE Location and Area The Vavuniya District is in the Northern part of Sri Lanka. It covers of an area about 196,690.96 Ha (1966.90 Sq km). This consist for 10% of the Land area in the entire North - East Province and 3% of the island. Boundaries: North - Mullaitivu District South - Anuradhapura District East - Trincomalee & Anuradhapura Districts West - Mullaitivu & Mannar Districts Administrative Divisions: Administratively this district constitutes part of Wanni Electoral District. This district has 4 Divisional Secretary divisions and covers 102 Grama Niladharies divisions and 505villages. There are 5 Local Bodies functioning in this District. They are one Urban Council and four Pradeshiya Sabha.
