We are a well known Charitable Organization registered under The STATE NATIONAL ELDERS ACT No. 9 which established a Representative National Council for Elders & A National Secretariat for Elders under the State Ministry Of Social Services.
As we are a registered organization caring for needs of Elders & Children we are exempt from Government Taxes.
The 50 year History of GPHE (Grace Perera Home for Elders) trace back to the times when it???s Founder, The Dehiwala - Mt. Lavinia Buddhist Society created the GPHE under the chairmanship of the great Buddhist Philanthropist at that time, Dr. G.P. Malalasekera.
The first Management Committee of GPEH consisted of eminent personalities in the Government & Private sector. Mr. H. Samaranayake who was a member of The Judiciary & former Public Trustee, was the first president of GPHE. In recognition of his services he was honoured by The Samaranayake Memorial Hall built in his name in the GPHE premises.
With the great vision & mission and dedicated services rendered by various committees of management during the last 50 year period the GPHE & the Children's home has grown up in stature to become one of the best managed Homes Today.
It is a significant co - incidence that the present President of the Management Committee of the GPHE is none other than the Grand-Son of the founder of this Home the Late Mrs. Grace Perera. He is Mr. Channa Fernando, whose vision is to make this Home ???One Of THE BEST MANAGED Homes??? in Sri Lanka.
The recent development work affected to the GPHE including the refurbishment of the Kitchen with modern equipment & utilities, building new Toilets, Wash Rooms and giving a new facelift to Both Homes within a short period bears testimony to his committed leadership with the unstinted support extended by the present Management Committee.
The present Management Committee consists of qualified eminent personnel in various disciplines, who meets regularly to maintain strict standards & discipline in all activities of both HOMES!
