• The Benedict XVI Catholic Institute of Higher Education (BCI) is the brainchild of His Eminence Malcolm Cardinal Ranjith, ninth Archbishop of Colombo, whose vision it was to establish a world-class facility to serve the youth in their higher educational needs • History of the locality of BCI goes back to the period of the former Sri Lanka Catholic Teacher Training College established in 1948 that produced thousands of teachers who went on to serve in all corners of the island • The institute was privileged to be blessed by His Holiness Pope Francis on 15th of January 2015 and was ceremonially inaugurated by the Seventh Executive President of Sri Lanka in December of the same year • In the last five years BCI has trained over 17,200 students through academic programmes under its three Departments of ICT, English, and Professional Studies • BCI is poised to become a Degree Awarding Institute in the near future producing industry-ready graduates equipped with degree certifications recognized locally and internationally • We at BCI, believe that education is vital for empowerment and development of the individual.
