Father and three others in custody...

The Meegalewa Police had arrested four persons in connection with the incident where a toddler sitting on the lap of a man was made to sip an alcoholic beverage.

SLSFTA: Opposition advocates, JO rejects

Leader of the Joint Opposition in Parliament, MP Dinesh Gunawardena, vehemently opposing the proposed Sri Lanka-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (SLSFTA), called on the Government to do away with the current agreement and draft a new FTA which would not damage local markets and industries.

Investigations continue- PM

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe yesterday reiterated that the investigations into the encashing of cheques by certain individuals and handing over the money to officials of the Presidential Secretariat on the eve of the 2015 Presidential election has not been halted.

Justice Minister Thalatha Athukorala, acknowledging that the list of names comprising 18 prisoners, who have been sentenced to death for drug trafficking, had been received, said the first name in the list was that of a woman.
