The No. 1 Dewmini Roti Shop is a café and guesthouse in the beautiful beach village of Mirissa in Sri Lanka.

Opened by Gayani and her husband Chaminda in 2009, the shop had humble beginnings operating from a roadside cart where its delicious rotis and cheery service won the hearts of both travellers and local people alike.

Word spread and the No. 1 Roti Shop soon became one of the most popular places to eat in Mirissa, thanks in part to rave reviews on the Trip Advisor website. Since moving to a more permanent location in 2011 – though still just a five minute walk from Mirissa beach – the shop has gone from strength to strength. The menu has expanded to include breakfasts, kottus and curries and Gayani now hosts excellent cookery classes, sharing her mouth-watering recipes for traditional Sri Lankan cuisine including pumpkin curry, devilled chicken and daal. In addition, Gayani and Chaminda recently opened the Dewmini Guesthouse.

As proof of its success, the No. 1 Dewmini Roti Shop is listed in the most recent version of the Lonely Planet guide to Sri Lanka and has been awarded a Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence after receiving a 5* rating from its visitors.  No trip to Mirissa would be complete without a visit to the No. 1 Demini Roti Shop.
